Teenagers in a small town are dropping like flies, apparently in the grip of mass hysteria causing their suicides. A cop's daughter, Nancy Thompson, traces the cause to child molester Fred Krueger, who was burned alive by angry parents many years before. Krueger has now come back in the dreams of his killers' children, claiming their lives as his revenge. Nancy and her boyfriend, Glen, must devise a plan to lure the monster out of the realm of nightmares and into the real world...
In the 1984 version, there is no dog. In the 2010 remake, a dog does die. However this is the entry for the 1984 version so I think people got confused which is why there are so many yes" entries.
The entire movie is about children being brutally murdered and the survivors being ignored by the adults who should be caring for them. I'm really not sure why anyone has clicked no for this.
Adults refusing to believe the real and terrible experiences of teenagers based on "knowing better", and implications that the teenagers are just too emotional, is probably the main theme of the film. Personally I feel like more of the horror comes from this than from Freddy Kruger.
only the animal called MAN. the naked ape. homo sapiens! It is only an illusion that we imagine ourselves to be separate. But to answer the spirit of the question no
No, but there’s one moment where the main character is in a bathtub and Freddy’s hand appears right between her thighs. Nothing sexual is made of it, but it may still make some people uncomfortable.
Nancy gets dragged into her bathtub in her dream and it miraculously becomes like an ocean in depth. She struggles as she drowns but is eventually able to escape Freddy’s invisible grasp and is fine
Yes and no. Tina's murder was meant to represent rape. Robert Englund has explained this. You can also hear Freddy making disturbing noises during this scene. Make of that what you will. It could be triggering for some.
There is excessive gore in the sense that there is tons of blood in two death scenes, and some other scenes. But the effects are not shown in a truly realistic manner, and most of the scenes are quick.
Freddy slices off 2 of his fingers while antagonizing Tina, but it’s not very graphic and played for laughs. Since he’s a dream demon, it’s not permanent anyway.
Not kidnapped but one of the characters is arrested and held in jail, and there is talk of Freddy's past crimes which included kidnapping, but it isn't depicted
Nancy and Glen are talking while standing on a bridge over a pond. The area with a lot of water where Freddy dragged Nancy from the bathtub can also be considered a pond.
It doesn’t fit perfectly into this category, but Freddy does scrape the knives on his glove against a lot of surfaces. Lots of unpleasant squeaking noises that might bother some people with sensory sensitivities.
idk if it fits exactly but characters are often not aware if they are awake or asleep and it can be triggering for ppl with derealization/ dissociation
The christian crucifix is a prominent part of the plot and mentioned in the nursery rhyme, and there is a prayer scene later in the film. Two teens also discuss a probably mis-represented religion from Bali.
(Spoilers, obviously!!) There is one scene where a cop points a gun/threatens to shoot one of the protagonists, but it is never fired and no one in this movie is killed by a gun
