Tricia's husband Daniel has been missing for seven years. Her younger sister Callie comes to live with her as the pressure mounts to finally declare him 'dead in absentia.' As Tricia sifts through the wreckage and tries to move on with her life, Callie finds herself drawn to an ominous tunnel near the house. As she begins to link it to other mysterious disappearances, it becomes clear that Daniel's presumed death might be anything but 'natural.' The ancient force at work in the tunnel might have set its sights on Callie and Tricia... and Daniel might be suffering a fate far worse than death in its grasp.

A man takes pets and (slight spoiler) trades them with the beast in order to keep his father safe.
It is implied that the creature itself eats them, or it force feeds them to its captives.
not shown, but assumed that all the missing pets in posters around the tunnel were taken by whatever lurks there. Not shown, but missing cat posters are
Helpful arachnophobe here. The spider appears on screen at 3 minutes and 13 seconds (0:03:13). It's a small tan, black, and white spider. It moves fairly quickly down a string of web. Short legs, but sharp and clawlike. Both the spider and its web are out of sight by 3 minutes and 21 seconds (0:03:21).
The same spider is shown at 14 minutes and 31 seconds (0:14:31) and gone in 4 seconds.
There's another spider around the 40 minute mark that is the exact type of spiders I am horribly, horribly afraid of. So I had to quit watching. Do not watch if youre afraid of spiders. Especially long-legged ones.
A bug or two is present, one is in the bathroom sink for a moment.
(Slight spoilers) The monster itself is implied to resemble an insect, with "skin like a silverfish". The DVD cover and slight glimpses of it imply it resembles an arthropod.
(ending spoilers)
Yes. It's subtle and offscreen, but when you remember that Tricia is pregnant... well...
yeah. It's off-screen, but there is audible screaming and tearing. The corpse is thrown next to a living character, and remains a blur just out of view.
(Slight spoilers) The creature abducts those who walk in the underpass, and even drags the surrounding civilians to its dimension if they get too involved.
For the most part, this movie AVOIDS JUMP SCARES! Finally, a horror movie that DOESN'T rely on them!
Still, there are some sudden visuals. At the end of Tricia's early dream sequence, Daniel, her missing husband, turns to the camera with a warped face (and screams, iirc). However, it is very predictable and clearly only there to signify that it is both a dream and foreshadowing.
Also, in the bathroom, there tension rising, but the real fright comes from the bait and switch that follows.
(MAJOR SPOILERS)
...
One character experiences a surprise abortion via supernatural force. It is not shown on screen, but the fetus itself rests barely off-screen, and screaming and tearing is heard beforehand.
One scene shows a bloody and seemingly mangled corpse, but I think that's about it. Even then, it's only for a moment and you'll know what's gonna happen as soon as the scene begins. However, for reference, it happens when the two sisters come across the crime scene at the tunnel, and Callie points to the corpse and says something along the lines of "That's Walter (character's name)." or something like that.
