When a film student decides to look through the tapes of a canceled project his friend Alex had directed, and he had participated in, he discovers that his friends have been stalked by a paranormal entity known as the Operator and decides to get himself involved.
given the themes of missing memories and altered reality, characters frequently conflict over what is "real." Jay more explicitly tries to gaslight Jessica in one instance near the beginning of season two.
its heavily implied that rocky, a dog, dies, but is not shown on screen nor does any character react to it. genuinely the folks behind it just forgot that good boy rocky was a character and never mentioned him again
someone finds themselves under the water at some point in entry #65 but they're not held down by someone, they just find themselves underwater and can't go up to the surface. this happens a couple of times in the same frangent of time when they start teleporting around. around the 2 minute mark
a character describes a child being mysteriously killed a few hundred years ago, but nothing is shown onscreen. another character implies that the story was made up, anyway.
One of the main characters repeatedly OD's on-screen (at least twice to my memory) but nothing comes from it. you can't tell me taking an entire bottle of pills isn't ODing
There are multiple instances of sudden loud noises and distortion throughout the series. There are also instances of people jumping suddenly attacking the main character.
While it can be argued that Masky and Hoodie are simply being possessed by The Operator, it's highly unlikely. Both characters appear to act on their own free will. Alex is also not possessed, rather he is influenced by The Operator.
a character vomits after waking up in a field and "walking" to the left in entry #67, you can skip from 7:08 to 7:20.
after that a character vomits off screen in entry #86, you can skip from 12:20 to 12:30, or you can mute since it's not shown on camera but it's just the sound (kinda realistic for me)
In Entry 60.5 suicide and self harm are mentioned in regards to a medical document. Might not matter to some people but hearing those words upset me greatly so, theres the warning.
but there are a lot of upsetting, startling noises. especially in season 1, audio is not well balanced, meaning videos may rapidly change from very quiet to very loud.
but I would warn that a lot of fandom content, especially in earlier years, fatshamed Tim as a "joke," which contributed to the decision to turn off comments on all video entries.
The series is "unfiction". The series is presented as if it actually happened, with two youtube channels, a twitter, etc. which interacted with fans as if the events in the series were actually happening. The videos are filmed by characters using a camcorder so characters sometimes talk to the camera vlog-style, and characters instinctively look at the camera. Characters address the viewers/twitter users they interacted with sometimes, usually during the vlog-style scenes or via text on screen.
Both no and yes. While it's not brought up in the series itself, one of the creators (Troy Wagner) has confirmed that one of the characters was gay. This isn't something confirmed by the series itself though, so it's a grey area.
Two characters houses burn down, another is implied to stay in abandoned/derelict buildings, and for a large part of the series we see one of those characters either in a motel or in their car.
