A dysfunctional family moves from the city to a small town into a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place. But no one seems to notice except for Patricia “Pat” Phelps, who’s convinced she’s either depressed or possessed – turns out, the symptoms are exactly the same.
This tv show contains 43 potentially triggering events.
I am saying no because it’s very infrequent, but there are a few over-the-top moments of gore. Like, The Shining elevator levels of blood, but it’s not especially realistic looking.
Jake has trouble with social queues, relating to peers, being touched, and eye contact. And he tends to take things very literally. As of episode 2, I would say he is autistic coded. Will update if anything changes, or if things get misrepresent-y.
Not on screen but throughout season 2, there’s a character who lost her baby in the past who brings it up constantly. It’s supposed to be a bit over the top and she’s humorously casual and upbeat about it, but it still could be triggering.
I’m saying no, however, there’s a lot of really blatant homages/references to classic horror films (sometimes line for line or shot for shot) that are a bit jarring and occasionally out of place, and they sorta feel like direct winks at the audience.
Family dog is “murdered” in the beginning of the episode but it’s a fake out (it’s a dream/hallucination). You do not see it but you hear it yelp when it is hit with a shovel.
It happens quick and is seemingly in a dream. It's not shown exactly what is happening, but it resembles this/could def still be triggering. ~26:55 - 27:15
Episode 105...Courtney Cox/Pat bangs on daughters door in the beginning of episode, then opens sons room. The third door is to the bathroom with the drunk husband...as soon as she opens the door he looks at her and moans and then projectile vomits. Very bad visual and sounds. So as soon as she opens the bathroom door to the husband...just look away. Also, right after that the title card says FRIDAY on a black screen but it's accompanied by more reaching sounds...no visual though...only a black screen with FRIDAY printed on it.
It’s not shown, but it’s heavily implied that a woman cuts herself with a razor blade. The scene has a woman strike a blade towards her legs and the camera cuts to blood on the wall.
Lots of typical horror stuff like demon possession, Satanic cults, exorcisms. The daughter gets involved with a Christian church in season 1 and has an affair with a priest in Season 2. There’s also a character who gets called “Wiccan” as a somewhat mean-spirited nickname.
