ending spoilers but: look I realize a lot of people on this site have the media literacy of wet cheese but a guy purposefully sending himself back to jail after he's spent almost his entire adult life imprisoned for being gay, including in a concentration camp!!, because he struggles to function in freedom is a DEEPLY tragic and sad ending, even IF it means he might get to reunite with a guy he cares about back in jail
