The dog does not die on screen and his death isn't addressed. The assumption is that he dies of age. He's badly injured in the first scene and Sethe tends to the wounds. The special effects are pretty graphic and there are lots of sounds of the dog in pain, but he's shown to be alright a little later.

First person scene of sexual assault. Enough for me to turn it off. Very hard to watch.

Skip about 10 minutes in. In the opening scene, a dog is being thrown around the room by an unseen supernatural force and gets thrown against the wall. It is audible and you hear the dog yelp, as well as see it fall to the ground.

The entire story revolves around the fact that the character of Beloved was murdered as a child by her mother, who preferred to kill her own children rather than have them be sol as slaves.

Beloved haunts Sethe's home both as a poltergeist and later as a physical manifestation of grief.

Sethe is raped through her life by multiple men, and she is described as having consensual s*x with both Paul B and her husband. Paul B also suffers sexual abuse at the hands of man and is eventually raped by Beloved, who uses the supernatural control she has over him to force him into having s*x on multiple occasion.

Multiple men are briefly mentioned to have engaged in acts of b********y
