You do not watch an animal die but there are two dead animals shown.
The first is when they arrive at the parents house, it shows one of the men carrying a dead rabbit. This is not gory.
The second is when the mum and her baby leave the commune, she finds a dead animal. I think it was a wolf. This is gory and she does cook it and eat it but it doesn't show much of this process, only the skull afterwards.

There are a couple of scenes involving dead rabbits. In the second instance we get a close-up shot and the body is partially decayed.

I do not recommend watching if you're afraid of underwater scenes.

A baby is a major character and features all throughout the film. A second baby also features for a significant chunk of it.
