London widow Cora Seaborne moves to Essex to investigate reports of a mythical serpent. She forms an unlikely bond with the village vicar, but when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature.
This tv show contains 7 potentially triggering events.
Flashbacks to a woman being burned by her husband during/after sex, it is unclear whether the sex was consensual. A young girl is forcibly kissed by a boy even when she says stop, but she manages to push him off and run away before it can go further.
Other comment is inaccurate - Naomi is alive at the end of the series, she did not commit suicide.
A woman dying of TB goes out into the river in a boat, choosing to die at that moment, however she is rescued.
Spoiler: Gracie (a teenager, not a kid) disappears at the beginning of episode one and is found dead at the end of the episode. Also, at the end of episode 2 children fall to the ground suddenly but do not die.
(EP6 spoiler) bittersweet ending. Stella passes away and Will grieves for her but then he is seen happy with Cora as his new love interest. Martha and Cora dont live together anymore but they make up.
In episode one, some flashbacks of Cora's husband sexually abusing her causes her distress and anxiety. In episode 4, (SPOILER) Garett and Martha get drunk and end up in bed together. Short sex scene. Will and Cora also end up kissing in a field and having sex there as well. No nudity in this scene.
Yes, there is a scene where a doctor does open heart surgery and another scene where he cuts into a patient's leg wound. In episode 5, Garett's hand is sliced by a blade and is then stabbed in the hand.
Cora (not mentioned in the show but shows signs of PTSD and depression) goes on a rampage at the end of episode 5, she lashes out and yells at Martha and then breaks furniture and smashes pots and mirrors in her home
(EP6) Dr. Garrett's breathing becomes painfully labored and straining and he sounds like he's struggling to breathe as he tries to use scissors in his wounded hand
Dr. Garett follows Cora to Essex in episode one and shows up at her home. Its not clear if his motive was to stalk her (and she was happy to see him) but it was weird to me
EP1 and EP2: there are not any actual snakes, but there is snake and serpent imagery in the title sequence and in episode one. The townspeople are terrified of a mysterious creature they refer to as "the essex serpent"
EP3: there is a one-second scene of a snake slithering out of a dead goat's mouth
At the end of episode 2, Naomi shakes and her eyes roll backward like she is being possessed. The other students seem to be affected as well as they start chanting
Luke tries to tell Cora that she should do what he wants her to do instead of what she wants to do. He is very condescending and attempts to make her feel like her feelings are wrong.
Cora tells her son Frankie to "shut up about the serpent" and she yells at him once out of frustration but other than that there is no abuse towards him.
In episode one, a dead seagull is shown given as a sacrifice. We can see it's neck was slashed. Also dead rabbits (caught for food), eels (fish)?) and skinned squirrels. A goat is killed in Episode 4 (we do not see the killing, but there's a scene where a man is holding a knife in the foreground, and the next scene the goat is dead and dripping blood) and seen again dead in Ep 5. In episode 6 there is a dead whale that is seen washed up in the beach. It has some scratches but nothing too bloody or graphic.
Will is seen to be wrestling a sheep in the mud in episode one, but it is revealed that he was rescuing it from being stuck and the scene ends with Will and Cora saving the sheep and it being safely put back on the grass.

EP1: In flashbacks, it is revealed that Cora's husband choked her and burned her with a hot iron during intercourse.
EP3: Naomi and Samuel (both minors) are seen in an alleyway kissing when Naomi says "you're hurting me" and asks him to stop. He keeps going, but she eventually pushes him away and runs away without being pursued by him.
Within the first few minutes of episode one, Mr. Seaborne passes away from sickness leaving his wife and young son, Frankie. (SPOILER: in E6 Stella passes away from tuberculosis but in a peaceful and accepting manner.)
Will has an affair with Cora. Will still loves his wife and regrets this. His wife, Stella, knows how he feels about Cora and seems not to be too upset over it. Martha and Garett also have an affair, even though it has been made clear that Garett has a crush on Cora and has spent lots of time with her
Kind of, within the first few minutes of episode 1, a teenage girl is standing in the water. The water ripples as a big creature moves through it (creature is not shown) but we hear the girl looking back at the camera and screaming. (SPOILER) At the end of episode 4, Naomi walks into the lake. It does not show her drowning but it is implied.
Yes, there are a few (detailed) closeups of open heart surgery/open wounds in episode one. In episode 4, Matthew kills a goat, slits its throat and drains its blood into a bucket and then uses the blood to paint crosses on the villager's homes to ward of evil. Episode 5, Dr. Garett's hand gets sliced and then stabbed and there's some blood. Episode 6, bloodied cloths and bandages on Dr. Garett's hand
