A bunch of soft shell turtles are dropped on the road after their thief crashes. The detectives kick the turtles that attempt to flee so they can recapture them, it’s very harsh and you can tell they don’t care about their safety, even though the woman they were stolen from said they were like her children. The main detective then brings one home in a plastic bag, as a callback to a suggestion from his wife that he eat a soft shell turtle to cure his depression.

3. the film opens with a man who has fallen from a mountain, which is suspected to have been a possible suicide. his body is shown at the beginning of the film, and several times thereafter in photographs.
4. the film ends with a suicide. it is not violent, is premeditated, and is not graphic (i.e., you don't really see it happening, a lot is left to the imagination)
