Teal is very manipulative throughout the series: misrepresenting others’ arguments so she’s always right, convincing people they hate themselves, telling people she can read their thoughts. Episode 3: They attempt to instill false memories of abuse under the guise of uncovering repressed trauma.

The theme of the documentary is regarding trauma healing. LOTS of discussions around childhood abuse happen.

The “inner circle” of Teals followers (who she considers her family) deal with regular psychological and verbal abuse.. it’s hard to tell what degree it goes to, but they’re manipulated, gaslit, coerced into doing things they wouldn’t otherwise do etc

Mental Health

Multiple references to past Teal Swan followers who have committed suicide. In episode 2, a follower recounts his own suicidal ideation and his mother’s suicide and describes seeing her body after she had died. Not a safe show for those sensitive to suicide triggers.

I think this trigger warning should be “shows signs of trauma / PTSD” because without a specific mention of a diagnostic label, it’s hard to say yes or no to “does someone suffer from PTSD” accurately.. anyway, I’ve said yes because trauma and related reactions are absolutely present in this documentary..

Multiple discussions regarding suicide take place. Not a safe show for those with a suicide trigger.

Yes, there are multiple scenes where participants of certain retreat activities are quite obviously experiencing a resurfacing of trauma and pain and it can be comparable to the presentation of some anxiety or panic attacks.
