Movie • 2022
ReportLondon, 1953. Mr. Williams, a veteran civil servant, is an important cog within the city's bureaucracy as it struggles to rebuild in the aftermath of World War II. Buried under paperwork at the office and lonely at home, his life has long felt empty and meaningless. Then a devastating medical diagnosis forces him to take stock, and to try and grasp some fulfilment before it passes permanently beyond reach.

He abruptly wakes up and leaves the tent. It is implied that he did, there was no visual at all. I muted my tv so I’m not sure if there was audio. I suspect that there wasn’t from the quality and tone of the movie, but I’m not certain.

A young police constable is shown to be kindly and emotional in the last couple of scenes, but it's presented organically and unrelated to his job

It briefly looks like Mr. Williams is going to make a move on a much younger colleague but he’s not actually attracted to her, he just enjoys her company

The expected ending is not subverted (that is, Mr. Williams does die from his illness) but the focus is on the good in his life.
