I very much recommend looking into the general storyline before seeing the movie if this is a category you find disturbing. It's the story of a rather famous true case, and there is no way for them to avoid it and still tell this boy's story. While the actual violence all happens carefully "off-screen," you do hear it and see the aftermath.
