Film adaptation of the 2015 video game of the same name that follows eight friends who are trapped together on a remote mountain retreat and discover they're not alone. Gripped by dread, with tensions running high, they must fight through their fear if they all hope to make it through the night in one piece.
This movie contains 76 potentially triggering events.
Not fully a bug, but a worm-like thing embedded in someone’s face- potentially triggering for bug + parasite phobias.
Appears in the sequence of found footage-esque scenes.
Over time the characters bodies begin changing. There's scenes of characters having clumps of hair peel off, new teeth growing inside their mouths, their spines begin to protrude, and their nails begin changing into claws.
Not on screen but while looking at the missing persons flyers of the previous victims, Megan channels a childs voice asking for their Mommy. Given that all the previous victims are dead/died 13 times before being trapped there forever, there is at least one child that died before the movie.
Megan is possessed on the second night. She channels the spirits of the previous victims, warns the others "Don't let it in" before she dies.
On the same night, Clover is possessed after she is dragged into the Witch's house. She is pinned to the ground and has an oxygen mask forced onto her, which results in her being possessed. Her possession ends when she is run over by a car and the night resets.
braved it for my fellow emetophobes 🙏🏻 i don’t have exact time stamps since it’s in theaters, but no vomit! there is a scene about 10-15 minutes in, after the group passes through the end of the rain wall where Megan says “I think i’m gonna be sick”, she gets out of the car and runs behind it but there is no audio or visual! completely safe. there is also a scene on their 3rd or 4th night where they’re in the bathroom and they all take a sip of water that they get from the sink, and a few of them start to kinda cough/gag a good bit for a couple mins, they do cough up some blood but no one throws up! the sound was a bit triggering for me so i covered my ears. the rest of the movie is safe! :)
First two acts have occasional flashes: lightning in sky, fireplace flames, lightbulb flickers/exploding etc. From the scene where they view the phone footage (which is corrupted, glitchy) the third act gets VERY flashy. The running scenes especially as the characters are carrying flashlights - creating a strobing effect. There’s a corridor with rapidly flickering lights overhead, and also heavy television static at points.
