animals were harmed in the making of the 1982 Cat People, specifically a leopard that sustained injuries and had to be destroyed after crashing into a gate, with director Paul Schrader admitting they used distressing methods like screeching devices to agitate the cats, and some large cats were even dyed black, leading to concerns about their treatment despite claims of no animals being harmed.

A sedated leopard is presented as a dead one in an autopsy scene, beginning with it being pulled out of a morgue freezer.

I gotta admit it’s pretty depressing, but it’s not horrifically graphic. Shows zoo animals in small brick enclosures with no enrichment or housing, just a concrete shelf.

Leopard is shot and then autopsied. It appears to be a sedated live leopard (its paw twitches in one top-down shot).

Not exactly? There's an animal necropsy in a morgue setting that's gross (not super gory) which may hit that hospital button for people though

The cat people are nativelly incestuous for plot reasons. It's discussed at several points and advances are made and violently rejected, nothing actually happens in the movie itself
