Young-Woo is mistreated in flashbacks to her childhood but there’s no physical abuse by adults.

In S1E6, a child is surrendered into foster care but not because of child abuse.

In S1E9 deals with children who are forced by their parents into rigorous academic schedules that are so intense that they are working 12 hours a day and not able to eat or sleep properly, let alone play or have any free time to just be kids.

S1E11 a father hitting his children is discussed, not shown.

High blood alchohol mentioned in a postmortem toxicology report in S1E3. A few other instances of characters getting drunk and obviously inebriated (slurred speech, less inhibitions, belligerence) but it’s generally tied to “special” occasions.

I’m marking “yes” here because S1E10 deals heavily with an accusation of sexual assault. Obviously, the issue of sexual autonomy versus informed consent (in regards to adults with intellectual disabilities) is very fraught, so I’m just going to state the facts of the episode so folks can decide for themselves whether it will be upsetting for them:

In S1E10, the defendant is an apparently neurotypical man who was in a romantic and sexual relationship with a 27 year old woman with unspecified intellectual disabilities. Nothing is shown and the event itself is not discussed in detail. (Warning: Spoilers for S1E10 ahead) The court finds that the young woman was “unable to consent” to sex with the defendant because of her disability. Whether this decision was the “correct” call is up to viewer interpretation.

Also, it’s worth noting that victim exhibits self-injurious behaviors as a result of the event but it’s unclear if it’s the event itself or fear of her mother’s reaction which caused her stress. So yeah, it’s all super complicated and the episode is potentially triggering for a lot of different reasons.

Not cheating exactly but S1E2 (warning: spoilers for this episode) involves an arranged marriage of sorts and it is revealed that one of the betrothed is in a relationship with someone else.

Also, S1E1 involves a man with dementia who constantly thinks his wife is cheating on him (she’s not).

A man has an affair in S1E11.

No, but there is a scene in S1 E2 where a character has stomach troubles and rushes to the bathroom. She doesn't vomit, but it can be considered distressing for those with emetophobia.

There is a lot of discrimination due to autism, as the main character (WYW) has it and faces opinions that she’s incapable of doing her job properly. She is sometimes manipulated and maliciously teased by a colleague.
EP. 3 - A defendant with autism is incapable of defending himself in court and his parents initially don’t stand up for his best interests. Mention & footage in this episode of Nazis deciding autistic children did not deserve to live.
EP. 4 - Flashbacks to serious bullying in WYW’s youth.

Suicide by hanging in S1E3, act itself is not explicitly shown but the aftermath is briefly show in the beginning of the episode and discussed frequently throughout the episode.

Attempted suicide in S1E15. A character poisons themselves in a court of law and it’s fairly graphic. Skip 0:41:00 until 0:42:00. (Spoilers) However, it’s revealed in the next episode that they lived through it. (/spoiler)

Young-Woo has AFRID, which is a common comorbidity for autistic folks… it’s not referred to by name but she mostly only eats kimbap and maki because of the predictable taste/texture, uniform appearance and all the ingredients are visible. She rarely eats anything else and is reluctant to do so. In S1E2, she notices a slight change in one of the ingredients in the kimbap at her dad’s restaurant and she doesn’t eat it. In S1E13, she really struggles to eat the food Joon-ho’s family cooks for her.

Also in S1E2, it is briefly mentioned that a traumatic event triggered another character’s eating disorder to return.

S1E2. A subtle but intentional one from the writers. Woo Young-Woo’s dad is talking to her about a wedding dress (for her to wear someday) and WYW, misunderstanding the conversation, asks him if he wants to wear a wedding dress like that.

Also in S1E16, a cis character jokes about trying to look “pretty” for his ex-wife. Then his colleague tells him he looks pretty and that his skin is “dewy” and it’s all played up with jokey “this is awkward/silly” music.

It will depend on the individual but I’m not sure any show not written by autistic people could ever really get autism completely “right.” I enjoyed this show as an autistic person but some may find the portrayal offensive.

Ableist slurs and insults throughout.

Some religious discrimination (anti-Buddhist sentiments) in S1E2.

Explicit prejudice against North Korean defectors in S1E6.

S1E12 involves highly misogynistic sentiments, policies and behaviors.

TheCassandraComplex
A lot of ableist attitudes and insults against people with intellectual and/or developemental disabilities (like “stupid,” idiot” etc.) throughout the series, including the Korean equivalent of the r-slur.

S1E3 focuses a lot on autistic discrimination and much of the episode could be upsetting.

S1E10 deals with autonomy versus informed consent for the intellectually disabled and there are ableist sentiments/language throughout the episode.

S1E13 (mild spoilers for this episode) When Young-Woo’s boyfriend introduces her to his sister and brother-in-law they are rude and tell him that she’s too “difficult” and he shouldn’t tell his parents about her.

S1E15 The senior attorney Young-Woo works with in this episode is super ableist towards her and dismisses her at every turn, to the client’s detriment.
