I’m saying yes just to be safe because I’m not sure. Bonnie Jean finds out that she’s pregnant with Rays child, and Clarice says she can’t tell Ray because she might not want to keep it. Odette gets upset and asks if she’s saying should “go under a dirty knife in some basement instead of having a white man’s baby.” I interpreted it as her saying that the baby being white isn’t a good reason to put her life at risk like that (I think it was the 60s, so it would be very risky health wise).
