after being abused by her father Harper is put in temporary foster care with another family, she then goes back to live with her father and he abused her again (spoilers bellow) eventually leading to her stabbing him in self defense and leaving him in the hospital, cutting contact. In s2 Harper an Malakai seem to get along and dusty is shunned by everyone, even though both Harper and Dusty took advantage of Malakai equally while he was extremely drunk and had just experienced trauma.
