Yes this was one of the cinematic animal deaths that stuck with me. It was a poor black cat that was used as a sacrifice in a ritual along with a goat. Both animals’ eyes and tongues were removed while they were alive and used to grant seeing and speaking abilities to disabled characters. The cat had a collar on which made it that much more devastating. I didn’t watch the scene to see how much was shown on screen or how bad it was, but the build up was enough to put me off the movie altogether. If you choose to watch this movie, you will know it’s coming when you see the main character spying on a congregation of people in a barn.
