Kind of. When the MC moves home he and his Mum can’t find their cat as they’re ready to leave. They do try looking for it.

I can say yes and no, one of the most brutal deaths is a teenage girl. I don’t know if this is for spectacle, since a teenage boy also has a disturbing death.

not explicitly, but the main antagonist is a pedophile and he ends up kidnapping a boy for 2 years. When his body is found (laying on top of the kid in a semi sexual manner) he seems to have a “blissful” expression on his face.

You can skip the “Boxes” chapter, that’s the cats name. I’m a cat lover and obviously I hate when pets die and this one made my heart sink. So if you so choose to skip this section the only think you’ll need to take away from it is that the main antagonist is living under the main character’s old house, and is horrifyingly obsessed with him.

Towards the end of the "Balloons" section, there are a variety of animal corpses found underneath the protagonist's home, presumably killed by the story's antagonist.

I’d argue that it is implied yes, *Spoilers* a young boy is kidnapped for two years and the way his body is found it seems like a rough and gross death to say the least.

It isn't explicit, but it is heavily implied that the antagonist is a pedophile. He created an entire relationship with the narrator in his own mind, and tells the narrator that he loves him.
