No, but the dog is picked/levitated up and thrown at the wall by the demon/someone possessed with a quick yelp. The dog is clearly CGI in this scene and is shown to be perfectly fine in the next few shots.
Yes and no. I was concerned by the earlier comment that my grandparents would be worried a scene such as that would trigger me but truly it just looks like a creepy scene then later it is momentarily mentioned the father said he was “assaulted” could easily mean attacked as it seemed. But I wouldn’t be worried.
Very graphic hanging scene at the beginning of the movie while a daughter describes her dad’s paranormal experiences, another about halfway through when a priest goes to a church in PA to see a deacon (priest pulls a cord from the wall), and another near the end when the possessed daughter goes into the attic
There is a scene where a character sticks their hand in a sink full of water to remove something from the garbage disposal. It is safe. The disposal does not turn on.
Nobody is crushed to death, however one person is positioned under a heavy item and for a moment it looks like it will hurt them when it falls. Person does not sustain serious injury, though.
When someone holds a cross that catches on fire it burns their hand and there are lots of blisters forming close to each other and it looks very uncomfortable
YES. and it is very graphic. about 30ish (?) mins into the movie. i would leave the theater when you see the family eating breakfast since there’s a lot of gagging. you can’t really cover your ears if watching in a theater bcs it’s so loud. she gags and pukes blood & glass for maybe 40 seconds.
You don’t see the needles/syringes, but they are implied by discussion of getting Lorraine a bag of blood during birth and you see the dressing on her hand from the IV cannula
Heart attacks are a common theme throughout this film when referring to Ed. I think he has a one in the smurl house after the demon pushes on his chest but manages to grab his pills in time. There are scenes of him in the doctors and they tell him that he cannot handle another heart attack.
In pretty much the first scene, there’s a flashback where a daughter finds her father after he’s hanged himself (the implication is that he was possessed, not acting on his own).
Then about midway through, there’s another scene where someone hangs themselves from a stairwell using a vacuum cord.
If you want to avoid it, step out for about 5 minutes when the camera lingers on the vacuum cord starting to unravel.
Very graphic depictions of hangings. One at the very start with a man in the basement. (The daughter was talking about her father and it shows a flashback to when she found him it is probably the most brief one and maybe lasts about 10 seconds on screen) Another on a staircase during the middle of the film. (After father gordon receives the phone call whilst waiting for the bishop i would recommend skipping about 1-2 minutes) And one at the end which in my opinion was the most distressing to see. (It happens when Judy gets possessed and walks to the attic, to skip past this scene it probably lasts for about 3-4 minutes)
When a character tries on her wedding dress and the seamstress leaves the room with all those mirrors, demonic activities commence and I'm pretty sure there are flashing lights until the lady returns.
I’m not sure about timestamps because it’s still in theaters but it happens right at the beginning when we are introduced to the cursed object for the first time
No, Lorraine is pregnant however and after an experience with a demon she goes into a potentially labor that results in her child being stillborn (and then the child lives after Lorraine prays)
I think it’s quite obvious that not only in this movie but in the whole saga it is very related to religion and at least in every movie it is discussed and used somehow.
It’s not sad as such, more bittersweet. Text near the end explains what happened the real Warren couple, who have since passed away, but it’s presented in a bittersweet way because they lived to old age and Lorraine remained loyal to Ed even after he passed away.
