A group of local animal control workers' lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple, but humans are not. Leading the crew is Frank, an opinionated, eccentric animal control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most well-read person in the room. In his past life as a cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, leaving him cynical and curmudgeonly. Despite his rough exterior, he is blessed with an almost superhuman ability to understand animals.
This episode has a plot point where a police dog is set to be euthanized for biting and is given to the euthanasia section, but ultimately is rescued. (I was concerned the entire episode lol).
A kid is locked in a kennel at animal control by an adult who is not her parent. The process of getting the kid into the kennel is not shown, and she's let out immediately. The person who locked her in is embarrassed and clearly remorseful
frank is in the hospital for a bit but not because of a huge accident and nothing bad happens to him, hes just shown in a hospital bed in a hospital gown and theres a vitals monitor next to him
Patel gets skunked. First he tries bathing in tomato juice in some kind of recycling bin or trash can or something, then he tries showering (all at work).
A man is shown with a clearly prosthetic ear, which falls off occasionally. The audience is told he lost the ear in a "mauling" and had to have several reconstruction surgeries
Episode 1 within the first 5 minutes. A obviously fake ferret is chased into a burning fireplace and catches fire. It runs back out and hides under an ottoman catching that on fire. Man puts it out and the ferret is seen no longer on fire and runs out the open front door.
