There is a gory shot beginning at the 6 minute 50 second mark with lots of fake blood spattered around the room where the character pretended that he cut himself to death, it shows visible bloody wounds on his body. Bloody imagery and the scene ends at 7 minute 20 second mark.

A fake hanging opens the film. It could be upsetting if you came to the movie unaware of its sardonic nature.

There are 2 instances of the characters interacting with cops (low stakes) but they totally clown on the cops' self aggrandizing idea of their authority so it's pretty anti-cop :)

there's a scene where Harold pretends to be mentally unstable and sadistic to dodge the draft, and he and Maude have staged a scene where he acts more and more unhinged until he eventually lashes out at Maude, chasing, yelling, swinging at and eventually pushing her to fall into the ocean

It looks like it, but it actually isn't. He stages suicide attempts for attention and they're played for laughs.

there's a real suicide at the end, and numerous fake outs for the main character's mother's benefit, but as he says, 'I wouldn't call it for her benefit'. Its so brilliant. There is faked suicides of every kind. I love this movie

Maude is revealed to have been in the concentration camps during the Holocaust. It is likely that she suffered/suffers with it, and her outlook on life is how she copes with it.

No but there are scenes where he talks about why he pretends to kill himself. There is a scene where a character reveals that they have intentionally overdosed but is very calm and at peace with it.

At 8:28-40 he is going through a carwash that has lights that blink on and off between red and blue. At 21:05-34 cars with headlights at dusk on are driving down a path and there is a lens filter that makes them flare out, and they flash as obstacles pass in front of the headlights. At 1:16:05-41 they are at a carnival and there are many spinning and flashing lights as they exit the carnival ride. At 1:18:55-1:19:14 there is a shot of fireworks going off. At 1:25:54-1:26:01 red ambulance lights flash.

No graphic sexual scenes happen, however there is a scene which shows two characters shirtless in bed together in the morning, implying that they were intimate the night before. One of the characters models in the nude (nothing graphic shown). There are some suggestive jokes, including one visual joke involving a very large wooden carving that looks like a certain anatomical part

nothing fully nude is shown, but one character models in the nude and you see her peeking around the sculpture. Two characters lie shirtless in bed together (nothing explicit shown)

The ending makes me cry everytime (and I've seen it 20+ times), but there is a feeling of catharsis, satisfaction and happiness that each character is better off and got what they wanted and needed. Bittersweet ending.

Maude is a very bad driver so any time she is behind the wheel, expect there to be squealing tires and other drivers honking at her

At 19:22-20:53 the character loads a gun, aims it at his mother, then points it at himself and it realistically fires, and he falls back pretending he has been shot.
