After 300 years of slumber, three sister witches are accidentally resurrected in Salem on Halloween night, and it is up to three kids and their newfound feline friend to put an end to the witches' reign of terror once and for all.
This movie contains 48 potentially triggering events.
At the beginning, Thackery leaves to try to rescue Emily without saying goodbye. After being turned into a cat, he doesn't get to be with his family again.
Though, SPOILERS, when his curse is lifted and Thackery gets to pass on to the afterlife, he does get to say goodbye to everyone. Especially Dani
(spoilers for the beginning of the movie) Thackery is turned into a cat. He runs to his family and makes very authentic affectionate cat noises and rubs against their legs, but they don't recognize him and shoo him away.
The witches suck the life force out of a child at the beginning of the film and attempt to do the same thing to many more which often involves them shoving, pulling, or putting spells on children
Kind of. Thackery the cat is run over but comes back. When the witches die and his spirit is realised from the cat form, there is a very sad meow from the cat and then cats body is lifeless which I found really upsetting but Thackerys spirit is there he is happy and reunited with his sister. So it is happy.
While Binx isn't really an "animal" per se...there are indeed times where he's sad throughout the film and laments the fact he was unable to save his sister, Emily.
A boy who was transformed into an immortal cat is accidentally ran over by a bus. We see the midsection mostly flattened (but with no blood) and the human characters are upset. The body quickly reinflates, and the cat shakes off the incident. A spell is broken on the cat character, and his soul is freed leaving the cat's body behind.
A cat, who is really a cursed human, dies when his curse is lifted. A young girl had considered the cat as a pet and had plans to keep him and feed him tuna.
No, but there are a lot of jokes regarding a character's virginity, and one of the villains (being at least a couple hundred years olds) has a creepy comment about underage boys.
The three witches are hanged at the beginning of the film but the only imagery used is their swinging feet. No sound effects or violent images are used.
Two characters are locked in small cages and poked in the backside with a pitchfork and fed candy in an effort to fatten them. It is played for laughs and is very mild.
A child's life force is sucked out by three witches. We see her body still sitting in a chair with her head bowed down. The three witches' goal throughout the movie is to suck the souls out of children so they may live forever. Somehow this manages not to be incredibly frightening and dark, and the overall tone of the movie is that of a fun comedy.
A character drinks a potion meant to drain his life force in order to save his sister. He is attacked by the villains immediately after, and is called foolish for trading his life for hers. He survives the attempt, and the sister thanks him. Both are unharmed.
A character's released soul is seen with the spirit of a dead family member. The two walk into a presumed Heaven together. The scene is framed as a touching moment rather than a scary one.
While the witches brew their potion, part of the ritual involves biting off a piece of their own tongue and spitting it into the brew. This happens once at the beginning of the film, and once toward the start of the 3rd Act.
Max says to Ice that he should learn to breathe through his nose.
Using "mouth breathing" as an insult to imply stupidity is not only inaccurate, but also ableist to those who struggle to breathe through their nose.
A boy was turned into a cat, his family didn't recognize him and shooed him away, so he was left to wander for 300 years, mostly in and around the witches' house. He was brought to a modern house by the main characters and told he could "live with us now".
Three women are hanged. We only see their feet dangling as barrels are pushed out from under them. A character is a resurrected corpse who must cut his mouth open to speak because it was sewn shut before his death, and his fingers are accidently severed when a manhole cover squashes his hand. No blood. Played for laughs.
