SpongeBob's feet are set on fire with a flamethrower. He extinguishes them but it's a rather sudden and violent scene.

A major plot point is Karen and Plankton not feeling empathy, which is something that can be fixed with an “empathy chip” in the film. The reason their relationship is toxic is because of lack of compassion, “empathy” is the wrong term. Lack of empathy can result from neurodivergence or trauma, which makes this problematic.

Plankton’s relationship is initially patriarchal (e.g. Karen has to support his plans and he won’t consider her suggestions), but this is challenged and fixed by the end.

SpongeBob is disturbed to find ketchup that he mistakes for blood. It’s assumed to be blood until some drops into his mouth.
