As Stitch, a runaway genetic experiment from a faraway planet, wreaks havoc on the Hawaiian Islands, he becomes the mischievous adopted alien "puppy" of an independent little girl named Lilo and learns about loyalty, friendship, and 'ohana, the Hawaiian tradition of family.
A character tries to leave without saying goodbye, but is seen by another character who then tells him it's okay to leave if he wants. The movie has themes of loneliness and belonging.
For much of the midpoint of the movie, Stitch is being closely monitored by alien legal forces, and meanwhile the sisters are being closely observed by a social worker. It's not exactly stalking since the followed parties all know about the followers, but I think it's worth a trigger warning.
No but the main character says that her caretaker beats her with a pillow filled with bricks. It is not clear if this really happens or if it’s just something the main charecter says in the moment.
The main character is kept in a small tube at the beginning of the movie, has blood taken from him, is put into tight constraining devices and generally smashed around quite a bit. But he's indestructable and walks away from everything uninjured, save for maybe a mild concussion at the beginning of the movie (he falls unconscious after getting hit by a truck).
Stitch is sad sometimes. It’s the kind of thing you expect, for the most part: one of the main characters being an animal, so you’re gonna see them be sad sometimes. But what might be a little different is the reason Stitch gets sad. He’s an alien experiment, created via genetic engineering in ways that are considered illegal in outer space, created to be destructive, who now lives with a family on Earth, and wants to be good, for the family. So he really feels a lot of different things about who he is, who he should be, what he wants to do with himself, his place in the universe, and wanting to belong.
Not shown on screen and maybe not in the English version but in the Danish version Pleakly does try to get a dolphins help but then realises its a shark. But again this is offscreen and not shown :)
Yes it’s a pretty major thing, the bad guys hold stitch (alien dog thing) underwater to drown him and he drags the main character little girl down with him to try and save himself
Arguably the inverse where a bullying victim gets into a physical altercation with their bully in one scene. Myrtle and co. are more the verbal mean girl type of bullies
Stitch is in restraints when he is captured my Gantu; Nani grabs and holds on to Lilo’s arm when they’re fighting and she’s trying to run away if that also is worth mentioning
Stitch (a nearly indestructible alien creature) gets crushed by a massive truck and the humans think he’s a dog and he’s dead but he’s actually an alien and he’s fine
At the final battle the main charecter puts an alien bomb in her stuffed animals head, so it is destroyed but the main character did it to win a battle
Lilo and her adult sister Nani both have meltdowns after being very frustrated with each other. They both are shown in their rooms screaming into pillows.
One of Lilo's hobbies is taking photographs of fat tourists -- played for laughs, and she does specifically say that they are "beautiful", so it's not intended to be mocking. There's also a running gag about a particular tourist and his ice cream cone, but it's more about the ice cream than his being fat.
The main charterer little girl sits by her window and prays to be brought a friend and says “maybe send me an angel”. This is the only mention of religion
No but the main character plays pretend that her stuffed toy is terminally ill and is going to die. It is played for laughs like “this kid is so weird” but it weirded me out as a kid.
Not really but their house does get detroyed. It ends up that they rebuild the house in the very last scene (so they are with out a house for a couple hours at most as it seems they rebuild the home quit quickly but they are never shown as being specifically homeless)
A little bit, since Stitch is a creature who exists because someone made him, and he struggles with his destructive tendencies vs. wanting his family to love him and wanting to make them happy. Pretty standard kiddie sci-fi stuff.
There's a few tings that go under this one. A car crash is mentioned by a character, but not shown. Another character is almost hit by a car, and kicks it in frustration. A spaceship or two crashes. And Stitch hits another alien with a car, just picks it up and hits someone with it. I think that's everything.
