BMO uses they, he and she pronouns which is not misgendering but a fact to be aware of as I might come off like that to new viewers. Fionna is also called Finn by BMO as that universe had a gender swap version of her
Big Destiny is a terrible father. He kicks one of his kids into a pit and tries to make his daughter kill her boyfriend to prove she's not "weak." He's also a gang leader and teaches his kids to be violent criminals.
A character who is implied (though not directly stated to be) abused by his mother reconciles with her before changing his mind and leaving the situation again.
Not sure if the vampire king counts but he is very manipulative and aggressive and convinces Marcy, his adoptive daughter, to kill people and steal their souls
The main 3 are gaslit into thinking the ice prince is good and the candy queen is evil but the ice prince is using the candy queens mind to exist, like prismo used simons mind to make Fionna exist
A fish monster and magic green bear are killed and their bodies are shown. The fish is cooked and Finn eats its eyeball. In episode 5, Cake brings Fionna a bloody dead rat. There is an enormous pile of skeletons of unknown species in episode 1:8.
Bonnie cuts simons throat slightly with a blade and there is a drop of blood. Vampire necks are also broken when Marcy wants to reaffirm her dominance over her servants
Fionna passes out drunk in e3 there is an unconscious old man that acts like a battery for prismo (ie if the old man wakes up prismo stops existing untill he falls back asleep) in e4 Fionna random,y passes out from exhaustion and has a nap but is fine
In fionnas dream in e1 they fall off a building into water but are fine and my,triple civilians fall off the bus/car but are caught by cake, in e2 when Finn takes Simon adventuring he hangs Simon from a rope as he climbs up a cliff, Simon freaks out and screams, in e3 cake falls off the floating human city and lands on her feet unharmed
Unlike in the original show, injuries may draw blood, which happens fairly frequently throughout. Most notably, a large creature is killed by Finn in a very bloody fashion. A series of zombie-like candy people are killed by Fionna in a way that is, while not literally bloody due to the people being made of candy, intentionally drawn to be fairly violent and disturbing to make a point.
Accidentally. Fionna doesn't realize she has a baby version of Finn in her backpack and ends up taking him to another reality. Baby Finn isn't bothered, but he is not seen getting home.
In s1e7 two secondary characters die, the main cast barely get time to mourn as they are in battle, multiple other human bodies are seen sucked of life and mummified including that universe’s Simon, it’s implied two other characters also die but Fionna, cake and Simon teleport away from that reality before we see it. In s1e8 it’s mentioned that everyone in OOO and that reality is dead and a supporting character dies.
Simon’s spouse Betty is talked about like she is dead but has fused with Golb, the inworld god of distruction and chaos. Finn in the first world they visit is mourning his wife and the mother of his kids
The cockatrice has bubble-like eyes and tail and the fire demon in e4 in the tavern has visible intestines through his body, his (possibly) stomach is a cluster of balls (trypophobia can be triggered by holes or bumps)
Scarab collects people who have committed cosmic crimes into little magic tamagotchi-like eggs, seemingly trapped forever or until they are brought to be tried or imprisoned elsewhere
Sort of? An alternate version of Princess Bubblegum (and her group of vampire hunters) is told she was in love with Marceline in another universe, despite being her sworn enemy in this one. This greatly upsets her in a way that implies it is true in this universe to some extent, though she’s opposed to the idea because Marceline is her sworn enemy, as opposed to any LGBTQ context.
Simon displays PTSD and depression traits throughout the series and BMO in e8 may have developed some form of plurality from everyone in their reality being gone/dead
MAJOR SPOILERS Simon mentions the Lich must be depressed because he doesn’t kill the main 3
Not exactly but Simon gives up on fighting back against a villain because he is depressed, seemingly not caring the villain might kill him, Fionna and cake convince him to fight to help them survive
Big time. Without spoiling too much, there are multiverses, travel between them, alternate realities, characters that can play with reality and reshape it, and questions of what it means to be "real."
Slurping, chewing, goopy, stabbing, screeching and drinking noises as well as balloon squeaking, bug skittering and loud bell clanging. And an alarm-like bell that kind of sounds like a heart monitor goes off in the prismo ep
One of Marcy’s servants sees the other servant get its neck broken and poof/die so when Marcy turns to them they break their own neck in fear of what Marcy might do to them
Unlike the original Adventure Time, there is adult language in Fionna and Cake. Goddammit, pissed, ass, hell, and the phrase "busting your balls" are used. Pawn Swan also gives a character the middle finger.
Yes, Prismo uses a TV to watch people in different universes without knowing, Simon is watched in the shower at one point, Simon also lives in a zoo-type apartment where one of the walls is open and people watch him live and do “human things”, he knows it’s happening but it feels weird
There is a multiverse in which Fionna comes from a reality like ours that is repeatedly called boring or lifeless, another reality is silent film era style, another is a reference to the misadventures of flapjack (an existing show). There is also a reference to Gucci bags. In e1 we also see from cakes perspective with heavily distorted audio and Fionna saying “blah blah blah cake blah blah food”
“Insane”, “crazy” “magic induced psychosis” used. People often mistreat Simon and remind him of ice king or Fionna and cake (which he hates and doesn’t want to be associated with) or try to use toxic positivity, while he is dealing with grief and depression. Simon rips off a dogs talking device so it can’t speak common anymore and just barks which is pretty effed up though he is panicking
Marcy is Jewish coded in e7 and steals souls which is a blood libel trope, she even wears a hexagram/6 pointed star on her neck, and Simon used to be ice king who was an antisemitic trope of kidnapping women to marry, this is revealed to be misguided on his part due to his memory loss and the loss of his fiancé
E1 Ellis P is a fat gluttonous fraud trope and joke about a little old lady eating a bunch of donuts, played for laughs E3 “I’m not an egg in just out of shape”
Golb is like the inworld god and Simon does ritual including chanting and making symbols with his arms to summon it including an altar of pictures of Betty, sculptures of golb, etc.
There's jokes about Ice King wanting to kiss and marry Simon and stuff... but I wouldn't consider it incest since they aren't technically related- they're just alternative versions of the same character so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ? Kind of debatable though
A character is under a curse that affects her mental state, causing symptoms similar to dementia and Alzheimer’s such as delusions and amnesia. She is only in one episode, but the curse is a major recurring theme of the whole show and several other characters are briefly shown with the same curse. One of the main characters’ goals is to become cursed again after he was already cured of the curse before.
There is a fair amount of blood, much, much more than in Adventure Time. A monster bleeds when Finn stabs it. Simon is cut on the arm by a monster and the cut and blood are visible. Cake scratches several people and leaves bloody marks on them.
they mention jake is dead
