Report
McCormick Fellows contributed time and talent to develop one of the latest definitive videos to discuss race and media since the landmark Kerner Commission report on civil disorders in America 40 years ago. "Kerner Plus 40: Change or Challenge" was included in a presentation on July 24 at the 2008 Unity Convention in Chicago. McCormick Fellows, representing some of the industry's top media managers, were interviewed for the video along with many news pioneers. Northwestern's Media Management Center contributed technical support while several news organizations provided additional news footage of the turbulent civil rights era. Following the video at Unity, a panel of top journalists representing all of the Unity partners highlighted some of the critical issues America faces now and how journalists respond to them.
