I imagine they were, at the very least. The utilization of chicken blood is common in this show and it wouldn't surprise me if actual blood was used at some points.
Kim young-ho is consistently mistreated by the main character, to the point where she essentially hires thugs to kill him. At the end, it is revealed that he adamantly dropped charges, presumably so that the main character would not suffer any consequences. They are also now on speaking terms.
Kim Young-ho is your average mentally disabled stereotype, mood swings/screaming/violence/incoherence and all. He shows up in practically every episode.
A character is shown contemplating jumping off a cliff in a flashback near the beginning of episode 6. At the end of the series, a character willingly walks into a burning building with no intention other than ending her own life, and succeeds.
The main character is consistently manipulated in being a servant to her employer, who continually promises her promotions but withholds them. It is obvious he is getting her to try harder time and time again so that he has a diligent assistant.
There are some sacrifices of animals and chicken blood is used as paint in a talisman. The act itself is not shown but you do occasionally see a dead animal briefly.
2 characters are mortared into a kiln and nearly die but survive. The struggle is depicted painfully. 1 character willingly walks into a burning building with the sole purpose of dying to the fire. This character is only seen walking in and is not shown dying.
A needle is used to sedate someone. The injection site is not shown, as the needle honestly just looks like it's being held behind someone's head instead of actually entering their body.

Not quite a baby, but flashbacks of the main character watching exorcisms as a child has her crying. This happens starting at the end of episode 2, but these flashbacks creep back up in later episodes, as well, some introduced with the crying.
