Synopsis

A group of criminals kidnap a teenage ballet dancer, the daughter of a notorious gang leader, in order to obtain a ransom of $50 million, but over time, they discover that she is not just an ordinary girl. Abigail's motivation is to try and get attention from her distant father. When she is spilling the backstories of every other character, she says that Joey and Frank both "abandoned their sons;" Frank left his family to go into hiding and Joey left her son with his "fuck-up" father in hopes of coming back to him once she was clean.

It's said that Joey and Frank abandoned their families, though the exact circumstances are left ambiguous. The end of the movie shows that Joey is going back for her son.

Depends on how you read the ending; Abigail's father arrives and tries to attack Joey, but does back off when Abigail tells him to, and seems to understand what's going on when he carefully tells her that he's "here now."

A character makes a bet to have another character guess one true thing about them. later he is mad at her and says “You just had to go and do your little magic trick” about her saying true things about him. even though he was the one who goaded her into doing it but is implying she was the one who wanted to show off.

While thinking Abigail is a normal child, Frank and Peter pin her to the bed and inject her with sleeping drugs. Frank almost punches her, but is stopped. Later in the film, he goes into her room, roughs her up, and points a gun at her head. In another scene, he sends the muscle of the group to torture her for information, but Joey defends her from both men.

It's then that Abigail is revealed to secretly be a killer vampire, and she attacks the group. She is then repeatedly shot, stabbed, has her arm burned off temporarily, and her blood drained, but at this point she is the predator.

One character is referenced to have an abusive father, but this isn't mentioned again. Abigail feels neglected by her father, and Frank and Joey both abandoned their kids. Only the latter feels bad about it.

On the set there are dead animals used as props (taxidermy, skeletons, skulls, pelts) mostly on the background apart from one close up shot of a dead bear’s face. I guess it depends how they were sourced if they were harmed for the making of this film, although stuff like this romanticizes using animals as mere decor so it’s harmful in that way.

At the end, Joey is stabbed through the shoulder and held against the wall. She is eventually pulled out.

First scene is maybe 30 or so minutes in. It’s after a dead body is discovered. A character screams and then it cuts to another character briefly sitting in a chair. When it cuts back the original character who screamed they are v* into a sink. Audio only.

The second scene is towards the end. A twist happens with a character from the beginning. It’s hard to describe without giving stuff away. But after a character agrees to a deal, they are fed blood. The v* is easy to see coming, but it is a drawn out graphic scene. The character who is fed blood, v* blood for like 15 to 20 seconds. It’s graphic, but it’s just blood. After the character starts talking, you can look.

One character pulls out a crucifix necklace in hopes it will ward off the vampire, and crosses themselves upon seeing her. She later takes the crucifix and repeatedly stabs him with it, showing it has no effect.

One character, drunk, is in another character's room and implies he wants to sleep with her. She kicks him out. Later, a p***s is drawn on a sleeping character's face.

A character tries to flirt with another character, but is rejected and nothing goes further than that.

A male character is insulted for having a breakdown after being attacked by a vampire, but to be fair, it's not because he's a guy, it's because the other characters are trying to mount an attack and need him on his feet.

I’d classify it more as bittersweet:

Everyone who was okay with the idea of harming a child (before they knew she was a vampire, that is) dies; Abigail’s father finally shows up for her*; and it’s implied Joey may finally take steps to reunite with her son.

However, many of the more sympathetic characters in the crew are also dead; Abigail’s relationship with her father is still incredibly strained; and the one person who was there for her is likely—understandably—too traumatized by the ordeal to ever want to see her again.

*It may also be worth noting that he showed up too late to provide Abigail with any real protection.

Brutal bloody horror violence throughout, including impalement, decapitation, stabbing, biting, and partial or full-bodily explosions, all shown in grisly bloody detail; blood and viscera splatters; gory injury detail throughout; decomposing corpses shown in brief detail; bloody vomiting; blood-soaked walls, floors, and clothing.
