Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship 'Covenant' discovers what is thought to be an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world—which has a sole inhabitant: the 'synthetic', David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
This movie contains 42 potentially triggering events.
!!SPOILER!! The android David is undermined by humans and then later on creates creatures by experimenting with humans and the pathogen to eradicate them.
01:12:15, One character runs a knife down her arm or pricks herself with a needle, I think to flush a wound? She's turned away but she winces and you can see blood running down her arm. The robots get into a knife fight in the last half hour and there's some other minor instances of slicing and dicing throughout the rest of the movie
00:43:35, 00:45:40 are the most obvious instances. Ledward is heaving and coughing for the whole scene, which lasts about 5 minutes, and Faris starts hyperventilating through parts of it.
Someone gets their foot stuck in an automatic door and is limping afterwards. But there is no visible breaking or exposed bone.
Then there is of course the "hatching" of multiple neomorphs/protomorphs out of human bodies. Although this is more ripping than breaking..
Twice, graphically. 00:46:50, 00:47:55, 00:51:00, 00:51:27. Each shot lasts 5-10 seconds, and you can see people holding them down while they thrash around.
Aliens bursting out of living people through various parts of their bodies; an alien literally taking a ginormous bite out of someone; a long dead woman (yellow, waxy) lying on a table with her entire upper body opened (having been experimented on); a rough caesarian (no anaesthesis) producing a writhing, squidlike alien monster... And, just, soooo much blood.
01:43:36 - 01:44:25, you see two people naked about to have sex. You can't see any genitals or butts, but it shows a woman's breasts for one shot, and then they're killed.
00:09:18 (vomiting clear liquid), 00:09:28 (person visibly nauseous), 00:43:45 - 00:43:40 (man gags then spits), 00:45:23 (gagging), 00:45:33 (man vomits blood), 00:45:40 - 00:46:01 (extended coughing and gagging), 00:51:30 (man projectile vomits blood and then an alien comes out of his mouth), 01:44:59 (gagging)
Pretty constantly throughout the movie the cam is shaky - including some of the very first scenes - as if held by a person, esp one running towards or away from the filmed scene, instead of on a moveable tripod style thing
One of the major conceits of the series is essentially "what if alien life could birth from human (or other) bodies", to make an allegory to human childbirth in a way AMAB people can understand, though it is never really imitating regular human childbirth
A male crew member dies horribly, and another male crew member sits hugging the body, crying and saying "My love, my angel..." So I'd say the relationship is more than implied. But the death has nothing to do with him being gay; lots of straight people in the movie die just as horribly, and some are also grieved by their partners.
The robots call each other brother in the movie and then one of them kisses the other. Not exactly incest since they're robots and have the same creator but the brother comment...
