During a follower's storyline she is made to believe her dog was killed and is a large part of her character development, but during the ending of you talk to her while you're able to run around the capital she tells you she found the people that took the dog and it turned out they couldn't bring themselves to hurt it, so they just kept him for themselves and he is actually fine.
near the start, a parent dies after leaving their child to commit political assassination.
in the 2nd dungeon, one of the main bosses is someone's baby turned into a monster
In Alonzo's rank 7 bond, he drugs the protagonist's meal and moves him outside. His intentions aren't malicious and the protagonist is not physically harmed in any way.
After bringing Heismay out of the cave in Martira, he spends a considerable amount of time tied up (though he's only allowing himself to be and can slip the ropes whenever he wants). There's a scene shortly after arriving on Virga Island where the party has a net thrown over them, and they then spend a scene trapped in a cell and all tied up.
Quite a few people, both shown and mentioned, are eaten by an early boss. This includes an early game antagonist and one of the antagonists from that same chapter.
The entire Martira arc has a lot of this - lots of fleshy and gross sounds while within the body of an enemy, and lots of mouth sounds and crunching during the actual main dungeon (after entering the well).
Most of the language is of the fantasy "you dastardly knave" sort, but there are some swears here and there. Nothing crazy though, being that it's rated T.
The UI is very flashy in general, and it's common for there to be flashing paint splatters across selected options. There are also a lot of bright lights in combat.
there's a side dungeon where you have to gather items, and as you collect more your party members comment more and more about how they're feeling watched and it can feel a little creepy
"fantacy racism" is a major part of the game; the protagonist is of the most hated fantasy race and nearly everyone is rude or underestimates you by default
the starting capital city (and every city from what i can tell) has a huge homelessness problem and this comes up in at least one character's support conversation
