Detective Hoffman is seemingly the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy. But when his secret is threatened, he must go on the hunt to eliminate all the loose ends.
This movie contains 55 potentially triggering events.
Not necessarily, but there are references throughout the series to Amanda forgiving John Kramer despite his horrible treatment of her (putting her in traps, eventually causing her death). It's not covered in detail as much in this movie, though, so it should still be alright for anyone sensitive to the topic.
***YES*** A woman is killed by her boyfriend and her dead body is shown. We don't see any violence happen to her. The abuser is sentenced to 25 years but only serves 5. The abuser is then killed by the victim's brother (Hoffman).
Yes, but I wouldn't say that it's sex/misogyny motivated. Most people regardless of gender are horrifically tortured and killed for the purpose of being examples to others. It's not nearly as bad as IV in this regard.
John Kramer will trap people and then make them his apprentices, which does end up with them turning into killers/abusers themselves. It's a pretty big part of the series, but since it's not covered in quite as much detail, I think it depends on how sensitive you are to the topic.
SPOILERS
There is a scene where someone's head is locked in a box which fills up with water and his mouth and nose is covered therefore making it hard to breathe
Yes and no? The first trap involves people having collars that are dragging them back against their will and it does choke them. No one is choked by a person though.
no, as no character has an official mental illness, but the antagonists (Hoffman and Jigsaw) have both been through trauma/loss of some kind which set them on their violent paths - so this could be taken as insensitive to people who have suffered trauma
A man in a car has a glass bottle. It appears shortly after the main test subjects begin to leave the second test room/when a detective finds a test from Saw 1.
No one says it but be warned if su—de is a trigger because there are some triggering scenes regardless. (Be careful when a man is in a car with a whiskey bottle, it will be triggering if su—-de is a trigger)
No, there is no body dysmorphia in this movie. To be clear: "Body dysmorphic disorder is a mental health disorder in which you can't stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws in your appearance". The people who voted 'yes' probably misunderstood the question.
At the very end, Strahm finds himself in a room where the walls are closing in. The walls eventually close in tight enough to crush him. It is a very hard scene to watch.
Strahm is killed and framed by Hoffman for his crimes. As for the people in the game, they are told by Jigsaw at the end it was possible to beat the game with no victims and everyone surviving if they had stopped acting selfishly and worked together to beat each test. Only two of the five end up living and both had their arms heavily mutilated and sliced in half in the process.
