I came to this site hoping to find this, and created an account just to answer it. There are no fewer than *two* unrelated scenes in which it really looks like two different kids are going to drown. They do not, and in retrospect the scenes feel cheap, cruel, and unfair to viewers. It's classic fake stake-raising.

pretty early on in season 1, tuck (a character with downs syndrome who works at the Blue Cat) is called the R word by some guy sitting at the bar. however, marty (main character) quickly tells the guy something along the lines of “you can’t say that word” and “even my kids know better than to use that word, wtf is wrong with you” and then tells him to apologize to tuck, but instead the guy punches marty in the face. marty also used this as a way to try and impress rachel(owner of Blue Cat) and/or help gain her trust
