Starting at about 37 minutes in. Locky corners Belinda in the barn, forcibly kisses her twice, and then advances on her menacingly before the scene cuts to black.

Locky rapes Belinda, in a scene that starts about 37 minutes in. Although the scene is not graphic, it is central to the plot of the movie.

Cow with birthing pains--both cow and calf make it through safely. And we get to see the calf and it's really cute.

The word "rape" is never used, but various characters talk about what happened to Belinda, using wording like "a betrayal" or "the man that hurt her."

MacDonald manhandles his daughter Belinda a few times, and threatens to beat her once. In fact there are a lot of moments where various men roughly grab various women.

I don't know if you could really call them "jokes," but Locky, the villain, does insult the local shopkeeper's weight. The doctor also tells the shopkeeper he needs to lose weight, although he doesn't make a joke out of it.

Oh my, YES. Belinda is deaf and mute, and the entire village, (including her own family at first), treat her like she can't think and doesn't have feelings. We don't even learn her name for a while because everybody just calls her "Dummy." Later, they try to take her baby away from her, justifying it based on her disability.

After the rape, Belinda seems listless, and flinches whenever a man touches her. The doctor claims that she has a mental block which protects her from remembering the event too closely. In a later scene, someone offers Belinda brandy. A few notes of music from the rape scene play, and Belinda turns away from the brandy, suggesting that the smell might be triggering a flashback for her. (Locky was drunk when he raped her.) Something similar happens during Belinda's second confrontation with Locky: the music from the rape scene plays again, and some of the blocking is the same, like Belinda is going through the same thing again.

Yes, the scene starts at about 1:03:20. Non-graphic. Also for whatever it's worth, toward the beginning of the movie there is another (non-graphic) scene where a cow gives birth.

Several instances of manhandling, and during their second confrontation Locky shoves Belinda hard enough to knock her to the ground, but no slaps.

Maybe some of this. At times Belinda doesn't seem to know why or how she got pregnant. Dr Richardson explains that she has a mental block which protects her from remembering the rape in too much detail. The doctor claims that she could not say who raped her, although she has a reaction to seeing Locky in church that seems to suggest she remembers *something.*

Aggie asks a crying MacDonald "what are you bawling about?" MacDonald has an extremely sympathetic reason for crying at that moment and it does kind of sting to hear.
