The grandmother seems to have dementia, and everyone seems to have a problem with it. They talk about her 'losing it' and when she forgets that her husband was dead, they remind her of it rather cruelly. A character also says she's placing a burden on the family, though another says she isn't right after. There's a lot more in that vein of things, mostly centered around her diminishing memory recall.
