Ester has just turned 45 and has nothing in her life except caring for her son David (15) who has a severe intellectual disability. David can't speak and needs constant attention. Ester loves him deeply, but she's exhausted by the routine and coping alone. Friends in Italy invite her to visit, but they find David's unpredictable behavior causing problems. They ask her to stay in a caravan in their garden. For Ester, this is the last straw. She doesn't want to feel like a burden anymore. When night falls, she starts the caravan and takes off. On their life-changing journey across Italy, and thanks to the people they meet, especially Zuza (29) - her fun-loving companion and David's first love - Ester realizes she can be more than just a mother and live a different life. At least for a while.
