The dog does get injured a few times. His face is covered in a goo and it looks like he's being smothered, there's comments about killing him and he gets hit a few times.
don’t know why this is yes. luthor is manipulative and abusive but always candid in what he’s doing. bad guys lie to get their way but there no gaslighting
Perry White has a cigar in his mouth (which is incredibly rare to see in a modern superhero film), but he never smokes it.
Side-Note: Interestingly, there are reports that Oz Cobb couldn't be shown with an unlit cigar in The Batman.
The Kaiju is a human-made creature, but Superman expresses upset that the Justice Gang kill the Kaiju rather than put the beast in an animal sanctuary.
No, but someone is very vividly suffocated using a different substance, which could trigger a fear of drowing or suffocation. This scene includes a computer generated depiction of the person's lungs filling with that substance, and people describing what's happening in detail.
I'll admit that I'm using the term "drugged" loosely, but as happens in most Superman movies there is a scene where kryptonite is used to incapacitate Superman, leaving him conscious but helpless. I can't help but draw parallels between this and certain date rape drugs.
Yes, this happens twice (WARNING: SPOILER): first, when Luthor arrives at Superman’s cave, Superdog’s mouth is covered by a muzzle made by nanotechs. Second, during the fight between Superman, megaman and the half-robot girl, soon after they land on the stadium, the nanotechs will cover Superman’s mouth and face
as mentioned in other comments, superman is suffocated by nanites. there are a couple times where he is also grabbed by the throat and thrown around during fights
Metamorpho’s baby is being held captive away from him in the pocket dimension. Metamorpho can see him, and he’s crying. Later Superman breaks free and rescues the baby.
SPOILER - When superman goes to turn himself in, the cops/military men smash him into the ground. Superman rebuttals asking if it was necessary since he turned himself in willingly, the "cops" say aliens don't have rights.
not quite but with a lot of the high speed action, the camera follows the movements but i wouldn’t say shakey in an unsteady way, it’s pretty consistently stable
The film makes allusions to:
A) Anti-immigration rhetoric, in the context of Superman being an “alien”
and
B) The dehumanising rhetoric towards Palestinians, in the context of a fictional occupation of “ Jarhanpur” (a stand-in for Palestine) being conquered by “Boravia” (a stand-in for Israel), and the Netanyahu stand-in says that he’s willing to kill all Jarhanpurians to conquer their land
Cat Grant dresses revealingly while playing a minor role. Not outright objectification but sexualization (she had a similar cameo in The Suicide Squad).
