“Eastbank • Westbank” documents our exploration of the old and newly built parts of Peitian Village (Fujian Province). We also recorded the transformation in our understanding of Peitian and our identity throughout the journey. The work began at the 13th Documentary Workshop of the New Asian Filmmakers Collective in March of 2021. The task of completing a documentary in 10 days was challenging for me. I was initially unsure of what to do, so I decided to give my cameras to children and a dog. Meanwhile, I invited a television director to join me for shooting and editing.
