There is a tortoise but it is fine.
According to American Humane Hollywood, this movie had full compliance with animal trainers on set at all times.
Here is what they documented with the tortoise
"In the scene where the actor runs around his house searching for his tortoise, runs into a pantry and walks out holding it, prior to filming the scene the trainers showed the actor how to handle the tortoise. Trainers placed the tortoise in a plastic box on the floor of the closet, so he would be easy to locate when the actor entered and grabbed him. On action, the actor picked the tortoise up out of the plastic carrier and walked into the kitchen and exchanged dialogue with other actors while holding the tortoise. After they filmed the scene, they placed the tortoise in its case and placed it in an air-conditioned vehicle.
In the scene where the actor feeds the tortoise in his aquarium, the tortoise was fed the same food he always ate, and again, the actor was shown how to handle the animal."

Without spoilers:
It's towards the end of the movie, from 1:34:35 - 1:38:09, and includes being trapped in a vehicle in water. This time stamp includes the time spent doing CPR in case that is also triggering for you.
****SPOILERS****
Important things that happen during the scene:
The RV goes into the water after the explosion and the daughter is trapped by the seatbelt, slowly drowning as water fills the RV. The mother survives the explosion. She saves the son who is trapped under debris. They hug and she says "Go save your sister, I'm going to try to stay alive as long as I can--" and is then taken out via massive head trauma by a telephone pole. He runs to save his sister. Gets in the RV. Is ultimately able to cut her seatbelt and get her out but she is unconscious. He performs CPR and she comes back into consciousness. They believe that this has satisfied the curse, since she "died" and came back.
