At one point spiders are mentioned as one among a list of potentially dangerous creatures living in an area, but they are not frequently brought up or the focus of much attention/description.
Several characters are killed together after being mutilated and partially burned (suspended over a fire). A man is covered in a flammable substance and deliberately set alight, killing him. Multiple animals are also burned alive.
Incredibly not. This is one of the main things that really stood out to me when I read this book - all of the characters witness unspeakable things and commit terrible acts but don’t seem mentally affected by it at all. Human life is just disposable to them
A vulnerable character is given sarsparilla with whiskey mixed in (presumably to mask the flavour) in order to get them drunk for the amusement of other characters. It is unclear whether the characer understands what he is being given or what effects alcohol has on him.
A character who is killed is described as having, among other injuries, had something pushed through their ankles to allow them to be suspended - I think it is mentioned that something is put into their leg behind the tendon at the ankle level.
There are multiple sexual situations referenced between adult characters and children. Also, depending on interpretation, several of the major characters might be seen as preferentially preying on children.
Not literally 'onscreen', but sexual violence is treated as a given by most of the characters and there are descriptions of or references to multiple rapes.
The characters repeatedly express (an act on) interests in both ambiguously-aged characters only described as 'young', but also characters who are confirmed as underage by modern standarnds.
There is a character known as “the idiot”, “the imbecile”, “the cretin” etc who is referred to as if he is an animal or an object (called “it” instead of “he”) and is locked naked in a cage by his brother
Not a huge amount to be honest. The native Americans sodomise some of the people they kill and the Glanton gang sleep with prostitutes a few times but it’s not described at length or anything
A lot of space is devoted to describing the guns and the various issues the characters have with them. This is before the invention of bullets so they use gunpowder and lead balls
