Not really, but the player character Oddsock, who resembles a dog, can "die" from the many hazards in levels. They can respawn a few times before you have to restart the level, as is standard for platformer games.
Characters can get blackened by explosions. LBP1 had a particularly bad instance when you blow up a jail to free a character and his entire body is blackened except for his light-colored lips. No such imagery in this game afaik.
A song in a previous game included Quran verses, which is sacrilege, as Quran verses shouldn't be used for entertainment purposes. The song was replaced with an instrumental in an update.
(copy/pasted from "Is there a dead animal?") Not really, but a few levels towards the beginning of the game include exploding cats. This is very cartoony and intended as a joke. Also, the player characters Oddsock and Swoop, who resemble a dog and a bird respectfully, can "die" from the many hazards in levels. They can respawn a few times before you have to restart the level, as is standard for platformer games. And one of the boss fights is against a giant octopus.

not REALLY, but the player character Sackboy IS a child, who can "die" from the many hazards in levels. He can respawn a few times before you have to restart the level, as is standard for platformer games.
In the beginning of the game, Sackboy (the player character) is abducted from his home planet of Craftworld and brought to the planet Bunkum. He makes it back to his home at the end.
The Titans (who possess Newton, making him the antagonist) could be seen as similar to ghosts. There is also a DLC costume of Sackboy in a classic bedsheet ghost outfit.
No, but there was a horrible instance of a transphobe hacking the servers for at least one of the previous games and replacing much of the text with transphobic hate speech (targeted at a specific woman). This led to the dev team shutting down the servers for all LittleBigPlanet games other than the PS4 version of this game.
