ReportSynopsis
In the magical land of Oz, "Wicked" explores the untold story of the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba, and her unlikely friendship with Glinda the Good Witch. As they navigate the trials of school, love, and political upheaval, they discover that the road to "wickedness" is often paved with good intentions. This enchanting broadway musical weaves a tale of friendship, identity, and the complexities of morality in a world where not everything is as it seems.

Erring on the side of yes. Elphaba's father forced her mother to chew milkflowers constantly, which seems to be some kind of drug. She dies during delivery and her child is disabled.

Boq is manipulated to be with Nessa. The Wizards attempts to manipulate Elphaba into making the people of Emerald City believe something that isn't true (everyone in this town is completely delusional because of the Wizard's lies)

Yes if you consider the "wonderful wizard's green elixir", a woman takes it as a recreational drug and it results on her baby being born green

One recurring theme of the plot is that talking animals face discrimination and are thus tortured into not being able to speak. A lion cub is kidnapped with plans to torture it so it never learns to speak, but it is rescued. [SPOILER] Dr. Dillamond is also kidnapped off-screen and when we see him next, he has been terrified out of his ability to talk.

Somebody gets crushed by a house off-screen. If you know the scene from The Wizard of Oz, only their feet are sticking out of the house, implying their head was crushed, but the feet aren't shown in the play. However, they were crushed by the house and die.

There are no children shown on stage. Dorothy is of course fine, but she's not on stage and it isn't mentioned.

In the stage production, during the scene with the lion cub in the cage, the presenter during the scene pulls out a huge syringe to tranquilize him before Elphaba casts the spell to help hom escape.

Two characters attempt to sacrifice themselves at different points of the movie. There are reactions as if those people have died by a main character, who believes that they've died.

Nessa insists during the ball scene that the reason Boq doesn't want to be with her is because she's wheelchair-bound--most actors play Boq's denial as a poorly-disguised lie, implying he really is weirded out by her chair.

No, thought many actresses for Elphaba have historically pulled on their experiences as Jewish people to inform the role. The image of the "witch" was based on stereotypes of Jewish people.

For Glinda, who believes she allowed her best friend to be slandered and eventually killed, the ending is sad. For everyone else, though, it's a happy end: the citizens of Oz believe themselves free from wickedness, Elphaba and Fiero are finally free to live as lovers, and just like the original Wizard of Oz Dorothy gets to go home.
