This is a big theme of the main game — with Morgan trapped in a simulation and having their memories constantly wiped. Before he escapes the Sim Lab he has relived the same day for months. He is a serial killer, cannibal, and terrorist. The violent actions which he takes on screen are hitting another (robot) character over the head with a wrench for interrupting him and later trying to kill you several times with explosives. The bodies of four of his victims can be found in the freezer room in the Crew Quarters.

The more psychedelic effects come from flash forwards and enemies like the Poltergiest using its lift field, the Weaver afflicting the player with the fear effect, and the Telepath using its psyshock. You can not progress without encountering and battling these enemies, as well as experiencing the flash forwards cutscenes.
