Synopsis

4400 centers on the return of 4400 people who, previously presumed dead or reported missing, reappear on Earth. Though they have not aged physically, some of them seem to have deeper alterations ranging from superhuman strength to an unexplained healing touch. A government agency is formed to track the 4400 people after one of them commits a murder.

Tess, a schizophrenic person, uses her powers to harm themself when she is having a psychotic episode. And in Fear Itself, while not on purpose, and autistic child accidentally makes a bunch of characters live out their worst fears through his power

This show does not handle mental health/illness or disability well.

One of the 4400’s ability is to inflict mental illness upon people. Because of a main character is “suddenly brought down with schizophrenia“, which is treated as a near death sentence by all characters, and the perpetrator eventually is forced to cure him and then drive himself “insane” as punishment.

In another episode (s4e2) an autistic child is “cured” by a healer. The portrayal of autism is very outdated and stereotypical
