While not animals in the traditional sense, there are animal-like aliens that players can kill, particular the Flyers on the King’s Canyon map and the Prowlers on World‘s Edge. Flyers drop loot, and Prowlers are killed as part of the Bloodhound Trials and on the Storm Point map as a wandering enemy.

Seer, one of the playable Legends, has several references to moths and their presence in Nigerian folklore. Several cosmetic items from the Season 10 battle pass reference insect biology and motifs.

The map Storm Point has swarms of giant spiders that will attack players if disturbed. In the Halloween-exclusive mode Shadowfall, giant glowing spiders appear, but they can't hurt you. A spider also appears in one of Caustic's heirloom inspection animations.

The character Octane makes use of ‘stim’ as his tactical ability, a drug delivered via syringe that gives a speed boost when used.

Thermite grenades are weapons that can be used by players that shot out a line of fire wherever they land. It is possible to kill or be killed by one. Fuse, a playable character also has a fire-themed ultimate ability that shoots a ring of fire around his opponents that deals heavy damage when a player touches it.

Fuse is missing one of his eyes, but it's unknown how he lost it.

While not in game, there is an animated trailer for Season 4 where Revenant, who was formerly human, is shown shaving his face, then is shown doing it again at the end, except as a robot and with a shard of glass instead of a razor.

Octane is mentioned to have blown off his legs with a grenade, and has mechanical legs instead. Fuse also has his arm blown off by a grenade, this is shown in Stories from the Outlands: Good as Gold, and has a robotic arm replacing it.

Loba's backstory, shown in the Season 4 trailer, shows her parents being killed by Revenant, and it's her primary reason for joining the Apex Games. Bloodhound's parents perished in a snow storm when they were a child, and in the cinematic trailer, 'The Old Ways', their uncle Artur, who serves as a father figure to them, is killed by a Prowler.

Caustic has two skins that make him look like an evil clown, and another that makes him look like a bank robber with a clown mask. These skins are event-exclusive, so an encounter with those particular ones is rather rare, but not impossible.

Several of Revenant’s voicelines mentioning stalking and murder, and his in-game ability to approach enemies silently reflects this.

Nothing is planned in this game. But I would definitely not rule out jump scares in a game with one life. Walking into a building with someone hiding in it, only to shoot you instantly is a decent jump scare.

Syringes injected into wrist to heal. As well as the character Octane slamming a needle into himself to get a speed boost

Caustic had terminal cancer and part of the storyline for Season 9 had him trying to find a cure for it. It looks at first that he failed, but does get the cure in the end so he's okay now.

Octane blew off his own legs so he can replace them with faster, robotic ones. It is not shown

The character Loba has lots of innuendo in her dialogue, but that’s as far as sexual content goes.

No; there's a nonbinary character and their pronouns are always used correctly. Their identity is treated very casually and respectfully.

I’d say more often than not, the ending of a match will leave you unhappy.

You can’t take fall damage, but you can fall off the map and die on all four currently available maps.

It causes no consequence when you hit a wall or a person with a vehicle called Tridents. But you may fall out of the map with a Trident, which will eject you vertically when destroyed.

If you shoot an enemy while they are not protected by a body shield, blood appears. This is replaced with metallic VFX for the robot characters Pathfinder, Revenant and Ash.

Apex Legends is a First Person Shooter game, so there is bound to be gun violence.

If playing as or against Caustic, who uses toxic gas as a weapon, coughing noises can be heard from people who take damage from his gas, implying that they’re having trouble breathing.
