This movie was trying hard to evoke some racial commentary that was different for Western movies at this time. It still hasn't aged well. The white actors playing Natives is in of itself is a misrepresentation of minorities. It's also unlikely the Kiowa tribe was depicted correctly in language, dress, and culture. It accurately portrays racism and prejudice against them, but still plays into stereotypes, especially their violence and "savagery".
