Report
During a routine search of an old cabin in the remote and wintery back country, Finnish policewoman, Nina Kautsalo, discovers two dead prostitutes, with a third still fighting for her life. The ensuing investigation takes a surprise twist when an extremely rare and deadly virus is discovered in the surviving woman’s bloodwork. When the Finnish Bureau of Investigation takes over the case, German virologist, Thomas Lorenz is called in to assist in identifying and containing the virus. Set within the endless white expanse of the arctic circle, Nina and Thomas must rely on each other to have any hope of saving the ones they love. But what takes precedence? A deadly virus or an active serial killer?

A reindeer gets skinned in episode one that's horrible - it can be skipped or you can look away but it's tought to follow the subtitles.
It's briefly mentioned that swine flu transferred to humans from pigs and killed a lot of people.
There's a fur pelt business.
SPOILERS
Look...in the end I had to not watch the entire series because of this kind of thing repeatedly being shown as a shock factor. I admit it is a compelling, beautifully written masterpiece - but my triggers were triggered way to often so I didn't make it through the whole series.... ok I tried.... without watching the screen but watching the subtitles.... Stick with it if you can manage pop ups of animal cruelty and deformed foetuses, dead pregnant women, the threat of giving birth to a child with severe deformity, health problems for the mother and baby, the threat of these things happening to mothers worldwide. It is marvellous. I just hate how much they've relied on the shock factor.

They talk about a case of a horrible STI virus that only shows symptoms when the person gets pregnant - then they show what happens to the mother and unborn child on a screen and it's awful. Bloody, vile, horribleness. Around 22 mins into episode 1. Look away. It's seen and talked about in episode 2 as well around 10 mins in on a laptop. SPOILERS
