The one remaining family member of a group of children tricks a random man into taking them off his hands, who then tries to give them away to anyone who will take them, and talks about them right in front of them as being a burden he doesn't want. He does grow to care about them and treats them better later. People also fight over who will get custody of the kids not because they want them but because they want their wealth, there is a scene where one of the kids is grabbed by random strangers fighting over her and her dress is torn, but she is rescued
