At an international school in Jakarta, a philosophy teacher challenges his class of twenty graduating seniors to choose which ten of them would take shelter underground and reboot the human race in the event of a nuclear apocalypse.
The one adult authority figure is exploiting his authority and has unethical work practices on students, with regards to grading and favoritism, as well as blurring the lines between personal life and work life.
An adult professor threatens a student with a firearm after she refuses sex, not sure wether for murder or sexual exploitation. The same adult has a sexual relationship with a high school student that is classified as statutory rape.
I mean, the whole movie is a thought experiment about who should be chosen to survive a disaster and rebuild mankind, and that stuff gets ableist very fast because illnesses etc are considered as relevant criteria.
I don't really remember who dies because the story has so many versions, but apart from deaths, the movie can be uncomfortable when it comes to the treatment LGBT. Gay guy is talked into sex with a girl to reproduce and save mankind.
Literally just stop the movie after the final thought experiment ends. The end reveles that the teacher student relationship is actually happening in “real life” and then the teacher maybe shoots himself...
