The trials and tribulations of a two man, digi-folk band who have moved from New Zealand to New York in the hope of forging a successful music career. So far they've managed to find a manager (whose "other" job is at the New Zealand Consulate), one fan (a married obsessive) and one friend (who owns the local pawn shop) -- but not much else.
In the episode about epileptic dogs they accidentally induce seizures for a group of epileptic dogs and it's briefly mentioned, but not shown, that one of the dogs passed away from their seizure.
In the episode about gangs it's mentioned but not shown that someone's penis was cut off (or as they put it someone's body was cut off so they were only a penis after that)
It's not super happy but not sad either, it's a pretty neutral ending.
*SPOILERS*: it ends with them getting deported back to New Zealand but it's not portrayed as tragic or upsetting and is supposed to be funny. They just farm sheep while doing a cool song.
Someone sings a song about their dreams and in one of their dreams is that their teeth fall out, but it doesn't look painful, they just kinda fall out.
[S1E6: Bowie] Bulimia is discussed throughout the episode, and it's implied that a character actually develops it by the episode's end. It's not brought up again.
One of their songs in the last episode of the second season is about some sailors lost at sea eating the limbs of a sailor. The scene isn't scary at all because it's supposed to be a joke scene and they use fake looking props.
Kind of, in the last episode of the second season there's a song about a sailor getting his limbs cut off as he sleeps. It's not scary or bloody though because it's supposed to be a joking light hearted song.
Someone falls out a window while trying to climb out to escape being seen by the police. They fall on top of a car and are later seen with multiple limbs in a cast. No bone breaking is actually shown on screen or heard.
There's a scene where someone is sitting in a bathroom after taking acid and the walls are shifting around and sometimes start to close in before shifting back.
The Australians mock the New Zealanders by intentionally calling the New Zealand men women and calling a man "Miss New Zealand" and asking a man with another man "oh is that your wife?"
There's an episode about dogs with epilepsy, when there's flashing lights at a concert for epileptic dogs we hear the dogs having seizures but it's not shown.
[S1E6: Bowie] A character becomes increasingly self-conscious about being too thin, which the other characters mistakenly refer to as bulimia throughout the episode.
